Evolving and expanding throughout the years.

September 25, 1990

  • First employee, Luis Aguilar, is hired (see 2000)
  • One-room Training Center opens in Deer Park, Texas
  • Basic Safety Training taught by volunteer instructors
  • Pre-paid training unit credits offered

1991

  • First year of operations:
    • 30,000 training units completed

1992

  • Diversified services to include:
    • Respirator fit testing
    • Pulmonary function testing (PFT)
    • Audiometric testing
  • All internal computers and operating systems are custom-built

1993

  • First site-specific eLearning training course offered

1996

  • Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils (ARSC) formed

1997

  • New 40,000-square-foot Training Center and Headquarters opens in Deer Park, Texas

1998

  • First webpage goes live

1999

  • Online registration launched

2000

  • Luis Aguilar becomes President & CEO
  • First company-specific and new hire orientation offered

2001

  • GateCheck™ site security/risk management application implemented

2002

  • Hands-on training launched

2003

  • First company-specific skills assessments built and delivered

2004

  • Xnet, Extranet and PQF developed with new cloud/application technology.

2005

  • NASA campus opens

2006

  • e-Routing card to "Save Time, Skip the Line" created

2008

  • 34 acres of land purchased for new HASC™ campus

2009

  • First leadership/soft skills training - Supervisor 101 offered

2012

  • Phase 1 of new HASC™ campus - Training Center breaks ground

2013

  • New HASC™ campus completed in Pasadena, Texas
  • Occupational Health Services through Global Health™ expanded to include:
    • Physical exams
    • Drug screen testing collections
    • Vaccinations
    • 24/7 injury care

2014

  • Houston Business Roundtable (HBR) relocates to new HASC™ campus
  • Custom Safety Council on Wheels mobile fleet provides remote medical and training services
  • Phase 2 to include Skills Development, Occupational Health Center and retail space begins

2015

  • Occupational Health Center and Skills Development Center completed

2016

  • HASC™/Global Health™ expand medical services to Safety Council Texas City

2018

  • LEAD™ professional soft skills launches

2019

  • Medical and training services added to contractor's hiring office in Deer Park
  • LINK™ launches

2020

  • Pasadena campus expands eLearning labs to have a total of 3 functioning labs to accommodate over 600 trainees
  • Parking lot expands to meet the demand of over 2,000 trainees a day

  • HASC™ celebrates 30 years of serving industry

2020

  • HASC™ opens a campus in Baytown, Texas, to better serve the industry. This location offers eLearning and instructor-led courses, along with health testing and injury care occupational health services.

We are now the Health and Safety Council.

  • After three decades of providing training, occupational health services, and industry solutions as the Houston Area Safety Council, we look forward to bringing our services to new communities as the Health and Safety Council™.
