Thomas “Tommy” Hysler, M.D., MPH
Chief Medical Officer
Thomas “Tommy” Hysler, M.D., MPH, graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, the University of Texas with a Master in Public Health and Ross University with a Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Hysler completed his residency in Occupational Medicine at the University of Texas, training at companies such as Shell, Chevron and ExxonMobil. He has been practicing Occupational Medicine since 2007 and is board certified in Occupational Medicine, a rare credential to obtain in the United States.
Dr. Hysler is a certified Medical Review Officer (MRO), Disability & Impairment Rating Examiner, DOT NRCME Examiner and also teaches a half-day course on OSHA Recordability (19OSHA) in the HASC auditorium throughout the year. He is the Medical Director for multiple Contractor companies and is frequently requested to speak at a variety of local, regional and national conferences such as National VPPPA, National Safety Council Congress, Texas Chemical Council and the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). Dr. Hysler also sits on the Residency Advisory Committee for the University of Texas Occupational and Environmental Residency program.
Andrew Vargas, PA-C, NRCME
Andrew graduated from Des Moines University in 1998, where he obtained his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Upon graduation he accepted a position at the University of Texas Medical Branch - Galveston, Emergency Department, where he received recognition for his dedication and continued education in the area of Emergency Medicine. After several years serving at UTMB, Andrew went on to pursue a career in private practiced in the disciplines of Gastroenterology and Infectious Disease which he spent ten years in dedicated service to the local community. Andrew has practiced in the field of Occupational Medicine for several years and has hosted several speaking engagements educating companies on exposure risk consistent with OSHA guidelines; and has worked on-site at several local petrochemical facilities. Andrew is a Nationally Registered DOT Examiner through the NRCME, and also holds the Physician Assistant certification with the NCCPA.
Bryan Lee, MSN, APRN, FNP-C
Bryan Lee, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a Bachelor of Science degree and from Samford University with a Master of Science Nursing. Bryan has been practicing since 1998, working in the fields of Family Medicine, Physical Therapy and Occupational Medicine. He is a certified DOT-NRCME Medical Examiner and is board certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Diana Perez, PA-C
Diana Perez, PA-C, graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts degree and from Nova Southeastern University with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Medical Science. Diana has been practicing since 2008, working in a variety of medical specialities. She is certified as an NCCPA and DOT-NRCME Medical Examiner and holds a license to practice medicine by the Texas Medical Board.
Gregory Baker, MSN, APRN, FNP-C
Gregg Baker, MSN, APRN, FNP-C graduated from the University of North Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree and from Texas Chiropractic College with a Doctor of Chiropractic. Gregg has been practicing since 1998 in the field of Occupational Medicine. He is a certified DOT-NRCME Medical Examiner and licensed by the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Dr. Baker has completed his Nurse Practitioner certification and is board certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
John E. Slaughter, MSN, FNP-C, APRN
John E. Slaughter FNP-C, APRN is a native Texan and an Eagle Scout. Dr. Slaughter is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a Board Certified Chiropractic Physician. He received his associates of science (AS) and bachelors of science (BS) from San Jacinto College and University of Houston. He received his emergency medicine technician (EMT-B) from San Jacinto College. He received a second bachelors of science (BS) and his doctor of chiropractic (DC) from the Texas Chiropractic College. He received his bachelors of nursing (BSN) and registered nurse (RN) from Hardin Simmons University Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing. He received his masters of science and nursing (MSN) from Samford University. He is board certified in family practice with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). He received board certification in electrodiagnostics and manipulation under anesthesia. He is certified as a Designated Doctor for the Texas Department of Insurance Workers Compensation Division. He is certified as a DOT-NRCME Federal Medical Examiner. He is board eligible in chiropractic for Sports Medicine, Neurology, Nutrition, and Orthopedics. He is a certified provider for Buprenorphine / Suboxone by AANP / ASMHSA in substance abuse and addictive medicine. He has worked in occupational medicine for since 1995 and has been onsite at numerous petrochemical facilities. He specializes in occupational medicine, family practice, emergency medicine, pain management, orthopedics, neurology, bioidentical hormone replacement, nutrition, and chiropractic medicine. He enjoys spending time working and playing outdoors with his wife, dogs, horses, and donkeys. He enjoys horseback riding, hunting, fishing, and scuba diving. He has his pilot’s license and fly’s several different types airplanes.
