This session exposes operators and prospective operators to scenarios that you would not want to recreate on a real crane such as high winds, rigging failure, boom failure, outrigger failure, and more. However, with exposure and proper training, a competent operator will be able to better react in the field when the unexpected happens. Students will conduct over a dozen lifts, some of which include hazards that the operator must identify, assess, and then act to mitigate the risk of each situation.
Areas of focus within the session include:
- Mechanical Failures
- Hardware Failures
- Communication Complications
- Weather and Environmental Hazards
- Site Complications
Completion of this course results in a Score & Report.
