ITI-OVERHEAD CRANE TECHNICIAN INTERMEDIATE - LEVEL II

19OHCTI2-

The Overhead Crane Technician Level II Course is truly one of a kind. This extensive course covers the major aspects of cranes, electronics, motors, variable frequency drives, encoders, brakes, and connections and circuit diagnostics. We will improve the technician’s knowledge and skills and provide the tools to enhance proficiency in overhead crane maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting. Hands-on exercises and labs with various pieces of equipment including pendants, drives, magnetic contactors, remote control systems, encoders, and more are prominent in the course. Time spent on an actual overhead crane is included. Quizzes are administered throughout, as well as a written and practical examination to ensure proper understanding and comprehension. This course meets/exceeds OSHA, ASME, and CMAA standards.

This course is designed for technicians that have knowledge of, or experience with, overhead electric cranes and hoists. We begin with the presumption that the student has some field experience, understands most major components, has a working knowledge of electronics, and is comfortable using a meter. Typically, the best candidate for this course would be a person with 2-5 years of overhead crane technician experience. Students who have previously attended and passed the Overhead Crane Technician-in-Training Level I Course are also ideal candidates for the Level II Course.

Each student that completes the full 3-day course will receive 2.4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Once the exams are successfully completed, the student will receive a certification.

Written and practical exams are administered to test the student’s knowledge and comprehension of the material presented. Participants who successfully pass the exams are issued a two-year Level II Overhead Crane Technician Certification.

All ITI Training Center Open Enrollment Students will receive the following student materials:

  • Overhead Crane Technician Student Workbook
  • Rigging Gear Inspection Reference Card
  • Overhead Crane Technician Reference Card
